How does EFT work? The fundamental principle of EFT is that distressing memories or thoughts cause a disruption or “short circuit” in the body’s energy system (i.e. the meridian system) which, in turn, causes a negative emotion. Unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases. This tapping balances energy meridians that are disrupted when we experience or think about emotionally disturbing circumstances. Once balanced, the upset is usually resolved – the memory stays but the emotional charge is gone. Instead of taking months or years using conventional “talk therapy”, EFT can take effect in one or two sessions. Sometimes its effects can be felt within moments. Typically the result is lasting and is accompanied by positive changes in thinking. The technique is easy to learn and ideal for self-help. EFT offers new levels of health and happiness without drugs, needles or negative side effects. EFT has been successfully applied to treat a wide range of emotional problems and issues, many of which have their origins in ourpast or are held as physical pain in one or more parts of their body. It has also been applied to enhance performance and improve relationships. As we become free of our limiting emotions and beliefs we become closer to who we truly are and to expressing ourselves more fully in life. In whatever way that is supposed to be. Relief from:
Note: If you have a serious health issue the technique should always be used in conjunction with medical consultation and ask your personal physician or counsellor before discontinuing any medications. --------------------------------------------------------Background Gary Craig, who studied with Callahan, identified a comprehensive set of "all purpose" energy points that could be applied to treat any emotional problem. He achieved excellent results on a wide range of emotional as well as physical problems, and named his approach Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). |
